Importance  of reducing stress in childhood

Child stress management: The emphasis in child health in the past was dominated by concerns about nutrition, infectious disease, and premature death.

Most recently, increasingly complex mental health concerns; the adverse effects of television viewing; the influence of new technologies; epidemic increases in obesity; and implementation of science-based strategies to reduce toxic stress in early childhood as a means of preventing or reducing problems in learning, behavior, and health. In fact, policies are being created in the US to reduce toxic stress in childhood.

Prevention thus becomes very important to reduce stress and teach children coping skills to deal with stress and increase their resilience.
