For example, pre linguistic skills like eye contact, turn taking, imitation are important. A language rich environment is crucial.
Commonly used words are selected and taught through fun filled activities. Five to ten words be taught per week. The stages include imitation, learning as specific words in a specific situation and then generalizing the word taught in various situations. Parents are involved and taught to give opportunities to the child to use those same words throughout the week in NATURAL environment.
Real life objects will be used and will be gradually replaced by representations like miniatures and pictures.

Nine sessions of 45 minutes with Doctor Singhania covering the following is required:
- Social, emotional development
- Play
- Listening skills
- Expressive skills- vocabulary syntax, picture reading
- Communication

These will be given through structured intervention, which uses a fixed sequence of steps to teach behaviour. Role- playing, playing, painting, craft, picture reading, representational play will be some of the methods used.
- The teaching of these skills will take time and depend on the child and family.
- The family will be given work to do at home to backup the therapy at the clinic
- The course will be of 9 sessions of 45 minutes per week backed up by home management. There will be a review after the sessions to decide on further action.
